Deal with fear

Achievements, Dreams & GoalsFear can be very sneaky indeed! Often when we feel afraid it is not immediately obvious what we are afraid of.

Fear of Getting Cancer

Rosie was terrified and she wasn’t quite sure what it was all about.

She had gone home to visit family at Christmas with her partner, and her husband’s mother had just been diagnosed with cancer.

Rosie had never really liked her mother-in-law and had wondered if spending Christmas there had made her feel unsettled in some way. Since Christmas, she had hardly slept and the fear she had experienced was so bad she could hardly eat and was not functioning properly. She decided to try hypnosis.

During the session Rosie was taken back to that time at Christmas, and with the help of her unconscious mind in response to gentle questioning, it transpired that she was actually afraid of the cancer. Her unconscious mind revealed that what it needed to take away the fear was love.  Rosie was able to visualise a beautiful coloured light all around her in the situation, bringing her a warm positive feeling. This sensation was anchoredi to help her mind remember it, instead of the fear, which just floated away.  Afterwards, Rosie learned some Emotional Freedom Techniquesii that she could do for herself by tapping on various acupuncture points on her body, if ever she was fearful about anything.

Following our session, Rosie not only felt better but looked different.  We did not book another appointment because it was clear that we had hit right on the problem and dealt with it.

  • Anchoring: a technique where a sound, visual image, feeling, taste or smell is attached to an experience.
  • Emotional Freedom Technique – acupuncture points are tapped on various areas of the body with positive affirmations to help all sorts of problems especially fear and low self esteem.
