Hypnotherapy

How hypnotherapy works

How hypnotherapy works"Man is born free but everywhere he is in chains" (Rouseau)

Rather a dramatic statement but a good description of most of our lives! The 'chains', of course, are not literal, but could refer to problems with money, overwork, phobias, smoking or drinking, weight, relationship problems or any one of numerous other things.

Imagine moving into a new house without the clutter of what you've left behind. Initially, you can find everything; everything works, everything is in order. An ideal dream. Imagine, though, the same place five years on. Now you can never find anything, you seem to spend most of your time trying to clean, to bring some order, but it's hopeless. The calm is gone, never to return... or has it? What if someone could restore the original soothing calm to the house? This is what hypnotherapy offers to the amazingly complex and marvellous house that is your subconscious mind.

Like the house your mind has become cluttered, just a little thing here, a little thing there, but by the end of it nothing makes sense any more. A hypnotherapist works by first finding out what the real problem is (you may think that you hate the look of your sofa but in fact it's really the clutter round it!), and then placing you in a light, relaxing trance to maximise the power of gentle suggestion. There is no force required here - you are always totally aware of everything around you (the hypnotherapist is there to tidy your house - not to move in!). By the end of the session you will feel cool, calm and relaxed.

Through this simple, but effective technique, you will have the chance to heal yourself. Hypnotherapy can unlock the potential of your mind, enabling you not only to rid yourself of problems, but also to realise your true, confident potential.
