Client's commment:
"Thank you for showing me the 'Brighter' side of life and helping me open doors into my future."
Who inspires you to take action?
I spent some time relaxing in front of the TV over the holidays and saw a programme about the Tenor Andrea Bocelli. A friend gave me a book about the now famous Cuban Ballet dancer Carlos Acosta.
Andrea Bocelli became blind at an early age. He was lucky enough to have come from a loving middle class family so they could support him in every way. However, I was astounded as the programme unfolded to know that he really does not let anything stop him from living a normal life! Forgive me if that seems obvious - but it is something I have never thought about. Andrea did a sky-dive, and one of his most enjoyed sports is windsurfing. It made me reflect that if a blind person would attempt a sky-dive, then surely I could have greater courage when attempting some of my projects.
Carlos Acosta on the other hand, came from a very poor Cuban family and was extremely reluctant to dance ballet but for his father, who was more determined than Carlos (reminded me of the Billy Elliot story). Then, after a while, Carlos found the 'magic' in his career and is now world famous and often to be seen performing at Sadlers Wells and Covent Garden in London! The thing that I realised from reading about Carlos in the first half of his new book 'No Way Home' was that on many occasions he didn't try and positively resisted his career path, but nothing stopped him - as if destiny itself unrolled the red carpet. His talent and gifts have made way for him. This is something I feel strongly about because so many people say things like: "I don't come from a musical family so what's the use of trying to be a musician" or "I am too heavy to be a dancer". So many times we don't see how we can be ourselves and yet still realise our true potential, in a way that comes naturally. Things said when we are young, that stick in our minds often lock away such wonderful realities.
Last year, I travelled a lot. I set myself goals that were too high in a way, but they served their purpose. Sometimes we follow our instincts and do not realise the outcome will be more than we expect. By steeling myself travel to Australia, Africa and Cuba on all sorts of courses and projects both personal and professional, I broke out of my mould in a way that has propelled much further forwards than I would have expected. The great Lifecoach Anthony Robbins whose name may sound familiar, urges us to take physical action in order to make change stick. I put this to the test and have to agree it has worked.
I wonder if you have an inspirational moment, that you can think of that has helped you on your life's path and how taking action in 2008 will change your reality forever?
